Sometimes the only way to listen to the music you want to hear is to play it yourself. So when band member Colin Nairne wanted to play his favorite bluegrass songs he called on his friends to join in. Despite busy lives, work and touring schedules, they managed to gather over relaxed summer dinners and work through a selection of bluegrass and country songs. It turns out you can't have this many musicians in a room before the question is asked when is the first gig? and if you are going to play as a band you need a name. Barney Bentall lives part of the year in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, an area rich with cowboy history and it didn't take long for him to come across a region called “High Bar” near the mighty Fraser River, and so the band became "The High Bar Gang”.
